HC Deb 03 February 1977 vol 925 cc303-4W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the latest situation regarding the task force group required to use its multi-disciplinary expertise to analyse and implement action programmes for the mentally sick in Birmingham; whether a detailed report is likely to be made available; and what other towns will be considered for a similar task force.

Mr. Moyle

The action team is being established by the Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Area Health Authority (Teaching) under the arrangements for the joint financing of shemes of mutual benefit. Its remit is to find practical solutions to the problems of the mentally disordered living in accommodation provided privately or by voluntary organizations. The team will be reporting, but it is too early to indicate when. I know of no other areas where a similar group is being established.
