§ Miss Richardsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Barking on the collection of information by the police, Official Report, 28th 513W November, columns 445–6, and in view of the fact that a police officer took registration numbers of cars of those attending an anti-apartheid meeting on 23rd October at Nufto Hall, W.C.1, if he will advise chief officers of police not to collect information on associations in such circumstances.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesIt would not be appropriate for me to give chief officers detailed advice on operational matters. I have, however, noticed the concern expressed by my hon. Friend about the particular case referred to, and I shall ensure that this is made known to the Commissioner.
