§ Mr. TomlinsonThe banking facilities required by my Department are regularly reviewed to ensure that those provided are appropriate, economic and efficient. The Giro service is mainly used for paying staff who are absent; a total of £27,000 being issued last year. In addition, staff and overseas service pensioners who are paid by agents have the option to receive payment through Giro.
