§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many recommendations of the Expenditure Committee in its report on the working of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969 have been implemented.
§ Mr. MoyleI have been asked to reply.
Thirteen recommendations have been fully or substantially implemented on the lines suggested by the Committee and action is in progress on a further eight.
Twelve recommendations are primarily the responsibility of local authorities or the Central Council for the Education and Training in Social Work; progress on these is kept under review. The Government's response to the recommendations of the Expenditure Committee was given in the White Paper (Cmnd 6494) published in May 1976.
