HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 cc565-6W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if a decision has been taken on proposals to improve research and development facilities in the British Leyland bus and truck group.

Mr. Les Huckfield

My right hon. Friend has given the NEB his consent to a programme to provide a centralised engineering services facility at Leyland in Lancashire, at a cost of around £34 million. This facility, which will match those available to Leyland's competitors, will make a major contribution to improving the technical competitiveness of Leyland truck and bus products in world-wide markets.
