§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsMy Department's share of the resources which the Government plan to earnmark for energy conservation amounts to expenditure of £8 million in 1978–79 and £17 million in each of the three succeeding years. In 1978–79, £3.8 million is being made available in addition to existing programmes and £4.2 million will be set against the extra expenditure for construction which I announced on 18th November. The £8 million will be divided as follows: schools, further education colleges and polytechnics, £4.2 million; universities £1.6 million; the recipient bodies of the science budget, £1.1 million; the national museums and galleries, £1.1 million. Further details, including arrangements relating to savings on recurrent expenditure, will be announced after discussion with the local authority associations and the other bodies concerned.
