HC Deb 12 December 1977 vol 941 c75W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what sum in 1977 would be required to represent the purchasing power of £30 million in 1966.

Mr. Denzil Davies

In 1977 a sum of approximately £90 million would be required to give equivalent internal purchasing power so that of £30 million in 1966. This estimate is made on the basis of movements in the general index of retail prices up to October 1977, the latest date for which information is available.
