HC Deb 09 December 1977 vol 940 cc917-8W
Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the provision of wheeled walkabout frames can be made for disabled people at public expense; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ennals

Yes. These frames can be provided by local authorities or, when required for treatment or aftercare, by health authorities. Local authorities have discretionary power to make a charge. The indications for provision of the wheeled types of walking frame are a matter for professional judgment. I will gladly look into any case of particular difficulty if the right hon. Gentleman will let me have details.
