Mr. Marks

The Property Services Agency spent the following sums on tyres:

£
1974–75 120,304
1975–76 167,064
1976–77 167,497

Mr. Noble

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in the light of the Government decision to buy British textiles, he will instruct his Department to purchase only tyres containing British-made tyre cord.

Mr. Marks

In accordance with Government policy, the Property Services Agency already makes its tyre purchases through contracts let by the Ministry of Defence Procurement Executive.
