§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much money from official EEC sources is being given to the respective political parties in the United Kingdom for preparations for direct elections to a European Assembly.
§ Mr. JuddThe Assembly made provision in its 1977 budget for the distribution of 2 million units of account—about £830,000 in sterling—to the political groups in the European Assembly on the basis of the strength of their representation. The distribution to the parties in each group is for decision within that group. The Assembly's provision in the 1978 budget is for 4.89 million European units of account—about £3 million—to be distributed on the same basis.
