§ Mr. Clinton DavisThe Government favour internaional action on such matters. Segregated ballast tanks on new large oil tankers are already provided for in the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, and an international conference in February will be considering further requirements. However, conversion of existing tankers would be costly, and alternative solutions are also being discussed with other countries.
