§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in the light of the United Nations Security Council resolution imposing a mandatory embargo on the shipment of arms and related materials to South Africa, Her Majesty's Government will now revoke the licence for the export of tropospheric scatter equipment to South Africa which is of direct military value 555W and used for military communications within NATO.
§ Mr. RowlandsThe Government are carrying out an urgent review to ensure that our policy on embargoing arms sales to South Africa fulfils our obligations under the new Security Council resolution. We have not yet completed this review. I cannot, therefore, comment on particular cases which may or may not be affected by our conclusions.
