HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 cc309-10W
62. Mr. Speed

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many relatives who were not wives or children of the spouse have been admitted for settlement from the New Commonwealth and Pakistan during 1976 whether on new entry or revocation of conditions.

Dr. Summerskill

It is estimated that in 1976, 11,700 citizens of the New Commonwealth and Pakistan who were relatives other than wives and children under 18 were accepted for settlement in the United Kingdom either on arrival or on the removal of the time limit on their stay.
