Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give for the longest and most convenient period of time details of persons to whom he has refused permission to land in Great Britain, and what were the reasons for banning their entry.

Details of the number of Commonwealth citizens and foreign nationals refused entry to the United Kingdom at ports are given in the annual Home Office publication "Control of Immigration Statistics". Figures for 1976 are given in Tables 1(a) and 1(b) of Cmnd. 6883.

The table below indicates the main reasons for refusing entry to the United Kingdom at ports during 1976.
