HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 cc403-4W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the capacity of the sewage works at Drumohoe, Londonderry; what is the present inflow to it; on how many occasions during the past year it has overflowed; and what prosecutions have resulted from pollution caused by such overflows.

Mr. Carter

Drumohoe sewage treatment works has a designed capacity for a population of 5,000. The present inflow is 450 cubic metres per day—100,000 gallons per day. The Drumohoe works overflowed on four occasions during the past year but regular monitoring downstream did not indicate any deterioration in river quality. No prosecutions resulted from these incidents.
