HC Deb 25 April 1977 vol 930 c248W
Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer. If he will now make the 2½p coin a permanent feature of the currency and introduce a new permanent 20p or 25p piece to bridge the gap between 10p and 50p.

Mr. Denzil Davies

The 2½p coin, like the rest of the coinage, is kept under review. It remains legal tender and there is no present intention of withdrawing it. Similarly the case for denomination intermediate between 10p and 50p will be reviewed from time to time.
