HC Deb 06 April 1977 vol 929 c560W
Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what answer has been given to the recent representations by the Government of Fiji concerning the future of Ocean Island.

Mr. Luard

No such representations have been received. In reply to a petition from the Banabans, the Fiji Government stated in January that, if the British Government agreed to the separation of Ocean Island from the Gilbert Islands, the Fiji Government would be prepared in principle to accept either its association or integration with Fiji.
