§ Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the desiderata in paragraph 35 of the joint United Kingdom-USSR statement in 1975, in which the two Governments stated that they favoured a just settlement in Cambodia and full consideration for the national interests and legitimate rights of the people of Cambodia, have been obtained; and, if not, what action is being taken by the two Governments in this regard.
§ Mr. LuardNo. The Government have frequently made plain their abhorrence of the cruelties which have been inflicted on the Cambodian people following the end of the war there and the subsequent imposition of Communist rule. I do not consider that raising these issues with the Soviet Government would serve any useful purpose.
