HC Deb 06 April 1977 vol 929 c508W
Mr. Cant

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether he will make a statement on the future rôles of the Price Commission, the Office of Fair Trading and the Monopolies Commission.

Mr. John Fraser

The Price Commission Bill, published Monday, makes specific provision for delineating the relationship between the authorities involved in the administration of prices policy and competition policy.

The Office of Fair Trading will continue to keep watch on commercial activities and competition in the United Kingdom and to protect the consumer against unfair trading practices, and the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to investigate and report on monopolies, mergers and uncompetitive practices that are referred to it.
