§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will initiate research into the integrity of the steam drum in the SGHWR and the probability of fatigue developing in the metal during its life span.
§ Mr. BennThe continued integrity of the steam drum throughout the operational life of the reactor is being studied by the Nuclear Power Company and the Atomic Energy Authority as part of the SGHWR design and development programme and will be demonstrated to the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate as part of the licensing procedure.
