Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will initiate joint studies between the electricity authorities and the water authorities as to the feasibility and relevant costs of incorporating desalination plants into the total design of new coastal sited nuclear power stations.
§ Mr. BennSuch an initiative is, in the first instance, a matter for the organisations concerned. Available studies suggest that this form of desalination is not yet an economic proposition in the United Kingdom.
