§ Mr. JohnThe average number of persons found guilty of murder, of 509W attempted murder and of serious assault, which for this purpose is taken to be wounding or other acts endangering life, in England and Wales during the years 1971 to 1975 inclusive exceeds the average number of persons found guilty of these offences during the five years ended 1963 by 129 per cent., 22 per cent. and 70 per cent., respectively.
