§ Ms. Colquhounasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements are being made for names and addresses to be disclosed to the Inland Revenue from central national insurance records.
§ Mr. DeakinsIn order to assist the Inland Revenue to test the feasibility of a national system of PAYE tax records using computers, in addition to the arrangements outlined in the White Paper "Computers: safeguards for privacy" (Cmnd. 6354), I have agreed to transfer to the Inland Revenue names and addresses from centrally held records of national insurance contributions. The Inland Revenue already holds this information in local records but it would be expensive in time and money to assemble it from these sources.
