§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he authorises the teaching hospitals in the North-West Thames Regional Health Authority area which should be closed; and if he will publish in the Official Report his estimate of the annual saving attached to each of the hospitals listed on the assumption of one closure in 1977–78.
§ Mr. EnnalsAny proposal for closure which remained the subject of significant controversy would certainly be referred to me for final decision. However, I am aware of no proposals to close major hospitals, teaching or other. in the North-West Thames Region; it would therefore be inappropriate to pursue the remainder of the Question.
§ Mr. Newtonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the proposed cuts by hospital authorites in the four Thames Regional Health Authorities.
§ Mr. EnnalsI have nothing to add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Sutton and Cheam (Mr. Macfarlane) on Friday 19th November.—[Vol. 919, c.787–8.]
