asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the cost of the new Government laboratory at Cockermouth.

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 17th November 1976; Vol.919, c. 612], gave the following information:

As my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State told the hon. Member for Chislehurst (Mr. Sims) on 12th November—[Official Report, Vol. 919, c. 318]—until a site in West Cumbria is chosen it is not possible to give estimates of either the cost of the move or the associated savings.
