§ Mr. Welshasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many additional places in (a) assessment centres and (b) List D schools have been provided since the introduction of the children's panel 911W system; and if he is satisfied that these are sufficient to meet present needs.
§ Mr. McElhoneSince April 1971, 85 additional places have been provided in assessment centres and 104 in List D schools, but 75 places in the latter have been lost as a result of a fire. Further places are under construction or being planned, but these establishments do not represent the full range of facilities provided for children placed under supervision by hearings. The range of facilities is continuing to be developed and includes arrangements for non-residential and intermediate treatment.
