§ Mr. John Ellisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what effect the recent measures on the sale of fireworks has had on accidents and incidents affecting the public; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John FraserI have been asked to reply.
As I told my hon. Friend the Member for Woolwich, East (Mr. Cartwright) on 15th November—[Vol. 919, c. 379]—the effect of recent measures on accidents involving fireworks cannot be assessed until statistics of injuries become available, probably in February. But reports received from a number of local authorities indicate a marked fall in the number of fireworks let off in the streets.
