Excluding revenue from local authority rates and national insurance contributions, the best available estimates are as follows:
Wales Scotland England 1973–74 261 281 320 1974–75 334 364 407 1975–76 390 467 516 in £ per capita per year. These estimates attribute taxes according to the areas where the tax burden is borne, not the point of collection, which is often a central point or head office. Among the sources used are the Annual Survey of Personal Incomes and the Family Expenditure Survey.
