§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will ask the Arts Council to make it a condition of grant that annual reports and accounts of all subsidised bodies shall disclose to the Council all salaries and any other forms of reward or remuneration paid to all persons employed or otherwise engaged.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe form and content of published accounts of clients of the Arts Council are a matter for each company concerned, under the provisions of the Companies Acts. It is for the Council to determine the conditions of its grants; and my noble Friend and I see no ground for intervention in this process. I understand that the Council conducts a close scrutiny of its client's budgets, before agreeing offers of grants or financial guarantees.
