asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement on the precise number of unemployed in Scotland and on what measures the Government intend to take to reduce unemployment.

Total unemployment in Scotland fell by 3,400 between September and October to 158,000. We have 179W already taken a number of measures to limit the impact of unemployment which so far have helped over 33,000 people in Scotland.
