§ Mr. MeacherAs the Command Papers on Devolution to Scotland and Wales (Command 6348 and 6585) indicate, it is proposed that although tourism should be devolved to the Welsh and Scottish administrations the British Tourist Authority should continue to be financed by the Government in recognition of the fact that in the face of international competition there are clear advantages in a combined marketing programme overseas for the United Kingdom's tourism trade.
