§ Mr. BishopWe recognise and share the concern felt by both pig producers and processors about the effects of monetary compensatory amounts on the competitive position of this sector. The recently negotiated reduction of 8 per cent. in the level of these amounts should be of some help to the industry. But it is not enough, and my right hon. Friend will continue to press for a change in the basis of calculation to achieve the much larger 91W reduction which we believe to be in the best interest of producers, processors and consumers.
