asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many hospitals there are in Great Britain occupied by, or for the purposes of, the Crown.

There are 2,758 hospitals in the public service of the Crown, of which 2,737 are in the NHS, five are directly administered by the Health Departments and 16 are Service hospitals administered by the Ministry of Defence.
