HC Deb 26 May 1976 vol 912 cc226-7W
Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Minister for Overseas Development if he will allocate a small sum from the ODM budget to finance an advertising campaign in the technical Press to publicise his recent decision that half the cost of pre-investment studies in developing countries will now be met out of the ODM budget.

Mr. Prentice

I have arranged for publicity to be given to the revival of this scheme by the Confederation of British Industry the Export Intelligence Service and the various regional trade associations. Before deciding whether to commit further funds for this purpose, I should prefer to assess the effect of this publicity.

Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Minister for Overseas Development how many companies have indicated their interest in making pre-investment studies in developing countries and taking up the ODM subsidy of half the approved cost.

Mr. Prentice

So far eight companies have expressed an interest in the revived pre-investment studies scheme.
