asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he is aware of the problems confronting areas which already have large numbers of immigrants when these are added to by new arrivals from the Commonwealth; what action he takes to monitor where these new arrivals settle; and whether he will take action to encourage these new arrivals to settle in areas where there are no housing, schooling and employment problems;

(2) whether he is aware that the area now known as the London borough of Newham was the most severely bombed district during the last war when West Ham then lost one-third of its habitable when he proposes to introduce legislation based on the report.

Mr. John

As to publication, I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 20th May to a Question by the hon. Member for Upminster (Mr. Loveridge)—[Vol. 911, c.640.] It is too early to say when any legislation would be introduced.
