§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will indicate the likely date for the publication of the findings of the public inquiry into the A30, Polstrong to St. Erth, improvement; and if the scheme is likely to be delayed or abandoned as a consequence of reduction in public expenditure.
§ Mr. MarksThe inspector's report on the public inquiry will be published when my right hon. Friend announces his decision. He hopes to be able to do this before the Summer Recess. The Government's programme of trunk road construction will come under review both 177W in the light of the White Paper Cmnd. 6393 and in consequence of the consultation paper on transport policy published on 14th April. It is too soon to say whether or how this scheme may be affected. Meanwhile, however, the preparatory technical work on it will continue.
