§ Dr. GilbertRoad provision and maintenance costs estimated to be attributable to goods vehicles for the financial year 1975–76 are £650 million. Of these £53.5 million can be attributed to goods vehicles over 3.5 tons gross vehicle weight.
Environmental costs cannot be precisely valued. An independent analysis quoted in Volume 2 of the Consultation Document on Transport Policy however suggests a minimum figure of about £70 million for goods vehicles over 3.5 tons gross weight.
