§ Mr. StrangThe Food Additives and Contaminants Committee is aware of the available toxicological evidence about cyclamates and of their potential food uses, but in the absence of any well-documented evidence that cyclamates are actually needed in food and that their use would present no hazard to the health of consumers, the Committee has not been asked to express any opinion on whether they should be reinstated in the list of permitted artificial sweeteners.
