HC Deb 04 May 1976 vol 910 c300W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many civil servants are employed in both Yorkshire and Humberside and in the county of South Yorkshire as a result of dispersal policies.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

As a result of policies of dispersing Civil Service work from London and setting up new work away from London wherevere possible, over 1,500 posts were established in Yorkshire and Humberside—including 85 in South Yorkshire—between May 1963 and October 1975. Current plans provide for the establishment of a further 2,850 posts in Yorkshire and Humberside, including 1,800 in South Yorkshire.
