HC Deb 04 May 1976 vol 910 c307W
17. Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if the Scottish universities have expressed any views to him about whether they wish to maintain their link with the University Grants Committee, as opposed to being put under the jurisdiction of a Scottish Assembly.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

The principals of the eight Scottish universities issued a joint statement in April. This reaffirmed the overwhelming support within the universities for the recommendations of the White Paper, in particular that the Scottish universities should remain associated with a single United Kingdom University Grants Commmittee.
