HC Deb 04 May 1976 vol 910 cc306-7W
9. Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the forecast level of capital expenditure on schools in England, Scotland and Wales, respectively, for the current financial year, and the scheduled level for 1979–80.

Mr. Mulley

Capital expenditure on schools, including provision for the under-5s, in 1976–77 is expected to be £324 million in England at 1975 survey prices. The comparable forecast of expenditure for 1979–80 is £184 million. I am informed by my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Wales and Scotland that comparable figures for Wales and Scotland respectively are £18 million and £58 million in 1976–77, and £9 million and £30 million in 1979–80.
