HC Deb 04 May 1976 vol 910 c356W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what he estimates will be the effect on the total number of staff employed by Companies House as a result of the move of company files to Cardiff from London; and what is the current estimated total cost of this operation.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The number of staff employed in Companies Registration Office, including the Register of Business Names, is expected to be reduced by the completion of the modernisation and dispersal programme from the present total of 1,363 to 1,100, of whom 850 will be in Cardiff. The estimated total cost of the move, including the microfilming of company records, is £7.5 million.
