What is the average amount paid in discretionary heating allowances per household in the current year.

Lord WELLS-PESTELL

As at May 1975 (the Latest date for which firm figures are available) the average extra heating addition was 55p per week. It is estimated that by December 1975 this had increased to about 75p per week.

What is the total number of households in receipt of the discretionary heating allowances.

As at May 1975, 792,000. The number as at December 1975 is provisionally estimated at 970,000.
