§ Mr. McElhoneThe White Paper on Public Expenditure makes provision for the maintenance up to 1979–80 of the staffing standards for primary and secondary schools earlier agreed by education 173W authorities for the period up to 1976–77. When all authorities have adjusted their staffing to those standards the numbers of teachers employed should be affected only by changes in the numbers of pupils. Class sizes in general should be unaffected.
