Mr. Wm. Rossasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the areas and populations served by the ports of Londonderry, Coleraine, Larne, Belfast and Warrenpoint.
§ Mr. OrmeImprovements in the Northern Ireland road network and the increased use of containers make it impracticable to identify specific areas and populations served by individual Northern Ireland ports. The trade of Londonderry and Coleraine ports is, however, primarily local. Belfast, the main port, and Larne, which specialises in passenger and unit load traffic, both serve Northern Ireland as a whole; and Warrenpoint's trade is largely concerned with the south-eastern part of the Province.
