§ Mr. Gerry FowlerIn the financial year 1975–76, the first full year for which 161W the increases recommended by the Houghton Committee are payable, the sums allowed for in the Rate Support Grant Increase Order and the Department's Votes to cover the increased institutional costs of the award in England and Wales was £446 million. £79 million of this are attributable to institutions of further education. It is not possible to express these costs in terms of teacher hours.
