§ The Prime MinisterThere are no paid public appointments within my own gift, as my hon. Friend wrongly puts it, but the list below shows the paid appointments on which it is my duty to advise The Queen. The list excludes ministerial and ecclesiastical appointments, and also a number of Civil Service appointments, whose holders are recruited through normal Civil Service channels.
The total emoluments of such appointments met from public funds are now about £756,000, compared with £248,000 in 1964 and £373,000 in 1970.
