§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements are being made for counting child-interim benefit in calculations for entitlement to family income supplement; and how many of those claiming child interim 739W benefit would be best advised to cease claiming if and when it is counted for family income supplement calculations.
§ Mr. O'MalleyRegulations laid today (SI 1976 No. 289, The Family Supplements (Child Interim Benefit) (Consequential) Regulations 1976) provide that child interim benefit will be taken into account in determining entitlement to family income supplement when the prescribed amounts and the maxima are next increased. Existing awards of family income supplement will then be adjusted to reflect the new benefit and, in the case of new claims, child interim benefit will be taken into account as income. It is not possible to make an estimate of the numbers who would benefit by ceasing to draw child interim benefit.
