§ Mr. MarksAt the invitation of the British Railways Board, I visited a number of railway installations on 11th and 12th February. The itinerary covered 555W Bedford: Toton marshalling yard and locomotive maintenance depot; Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International Stations; locomotive maintenance depots and operational departments at Crewe; and the parcels depot at Manchester. I met representatives of the railway unions and of regional management in the course of this tour. I was accompanied by three officials; the cost to departmental funds of hotel accommodation was £45.34. Other costs were met by British Rail.
