HC Deb 25 June 1976 vol 913 c435W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many new railway sidings have been installed with grant aid under the Railway Act 1974 to the most recent practicable date; how many sidings applications are currently under discussion; what is the tonnage per annum carried over the new sidings; and what is the anticipated tonnage from the applications under discussion.

Mr. Marks

Grant has been approved for 10 schemes of which three are already in operation. About 2 million tons annually will be involved when they are all in service. 20 others are under consideration but it is too soon to estimate the tonnages involved.
